|
|
Most multimode fibers from OFS are of step-index construction and are grouped together by their Numerical Apertures, with additional categories for Low OH, High OH, and Launch application constructions. Included in this section are products using our well-known hermetic carbon-coating expertise, as well as HCS and PYROCOAT brand technologies. Many are compatible with our easy-to-use crimp and cleave termination system. For quick comparison of primary specifications among our step-index offerings, see our Specialty MM Step-Index Fibers SELECTION GUIDE. |

Description |
HCS High NA 200 and 400 FW |
More input power is captured with the high NA while bend-induced attenuation remains low, and coupling efficiency stays high. This group of fibers is USP Class VI nontoxic and biocompatible and is also sterilizable. HCS fiber cladding provides high tensile strength and fatigue resistance. |
HCS 37 Low OH 125, 200, 300, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1500
|
Used in a wide variety of 650 or 850 nm active devices. This group of fibers is USP Class VI nontoxic and biocompatible and is also sterilizable. HCS fiber cladding provides high tensile strength and fatigue resistance. |
HCS 37 High OH 200, 300, 400, 600, 800 |
Used for coupling to LED and laser sources, the large core diameters (ranging from 200-800 µm) help create more efficient, less expensive connections. This group of fibers is USP Class VI nontoxic and biocompatible and is also sterilizable. HCS fiber cladding provides high tensile strength and fatigue resistance. |
UltraSil 200, 272 Blue, 330 UltraSil 200 and 320 Pyro
|
High NA together with low OH content in these multimode step-index fibers create a large usage window. HCS fiber coating is available for UltraSil power delivery applications, while PYROCOAT improves performance for sensing applications. |
All Silica Low OH 200, 365, 550, 940 200, 320, and 600 Pyro |
Low OH concentration, together with the strength of HCS and biocompatibility features, makes these excellent fibers for medical use. PYROCOAT coating makes these fibers also suitable in high temperature environments. This group of fibers is USP Class VI nontoxic and biocompatible and is also sterilizable. |
All Silica High OH 200, 365, 550, 940 100, 200/220, 200/240, and 400 Pyro |
High OH concentration results in efficient power transmission in the UV range through visible light. PYROCOAT coating makes these fibers also suitable in high temperature environments. This group of fibers is USP Class VI nontoxic and biocompatible and is also sterilizable. |
40/125, 50/152, 60/125, 105/125 Launch, and 105/125 Low NA Launch |
Used to create specialized launch conditions, especially in diode lasers labeled by their core/clad sizes. | |
